The goal of this training is to clarify digital navigator as a role and digital navigation as a task and how to integrate either or both into care teams.
This COE-BT two-part training will focus on leveraging digital navigation tools effectively to enhance patient care accessibility.
In Part 1, we will first learn about utilizing the foundational aspects of intersectionality using a disability justice framework. We will explore strategies to tackle the profound impacts of white supremacy, racism, sanism, and implicit bias within mental health particularly for those given an “SMI” diagnosis.
Part 2 will focus on fostering inclusivity and equity. The training will support developing the skills and the practice of digital navigation that has the ability to provide culturally sensitive, anti-oppressive care, ensuring a holistic approach to mental well-being for all individuals.
Learning Objectives:
As a result of attending this training, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the importance of integrating digital navigation tools in behavioral health care teams to enhance patient outcomes and accessibility to services. As well as, define the difference between the role and task of digital navigators/navigation.
2. Recognize the impact of racism, sanism, and implicit bias on behavioral health care delivery and identify strategies to address these issues within digital navigation practices.
3. Develop the skills to effectively utilize digital navigation tools while promoting cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations, ensuring equitable behavioral health support for all those being served regardless of diagnosis.
